Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is the name of that spark which gives light, but does not burn.
Babasaheb Ambedkar, the great social and political thinker, who was always on the journey of self-realization with his condemnation and praise,
while taking life in harmony and struggling with discrepancies, was born on April 14, 1891 in a village named Mhow in Maharashtra.
His father’s name was Ramji Sakpal and mother’s name was Bhimabai. He was the fourteenth child of his parents.
They belonged to the Mahar caste and at that time the Mahars were considered untouchables.
Ambedkar had suffered the pain of being an untouchable since childhood and his child-mind was plagued by this mismanagement since that time.
The great man who dedicates himself to the service of human sciences rarely appears in the society.
And he becomes adored like God in the minds of the people. Ambedkar was one of those geniuses.
In 1913 AD Ambedkar went to America with the help of the King of Baroda. On his return to his country, he started editing a magazine called “Mook Nayak” in 1920 with the help of the Maharaja of Kolhapur.
In which social malpractices were hit hard. The period from 1923 to 1931 was a time of hard struggle and rise for Ambedkar.
In the meantime, he emerged as the leader and spokesperson of the Dalits. He went to England and participated in the Round Table Conference and got the demands made by the Dalits from the British ruler.
Indian Dalits he said – be educated, struggle, be organized. His wife died in 1935. In the same year also announced the conversion of religion.
He founded Bahishkrit Hitkari Sabha, Siddhant Mahavidyalaya and Swatantra Mazdoor Dal. By 1946 AD Ambedkar’s fame spread from one corner of the country to another.
In 1947, he was made Law Minister in Nehru’s cabinet. On August 21, 1950, he dedicated the Constitution of India to the nation.
In the same year he went to Colombo and laid the foundation stone of Ambedkar Bhavan in Delhi.
In 1956 he accepted Buddhism and on December 6, 1956, our dear Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar left us and went away forever.
